The Economist has sponsored what is dubbed as the First Business Roundtable with The Government of Kenya. Its motto reads 'Making Kenya the Undisputed Business Hub of East Africa.'
The roundtable will be held at the Inter-Con on 17th and 18th of next month(July '07). It has been cited as 'a high level meeting focused strategic issuesfor Kenyan Business.'
Among the confirmed government speakers is: President Kibaki, Finance Min - Kimunya, Trade- Kituyi, Energy - Kiraitu, Roads - Nyachae, Planning - Obwocha, EAfrica - Koech and CBK Governor Njuguna.
From the Corporate world we have Jeffrey Sachs from Columbia University NY, BBK Head Adan Mohammed, KenGen CEO Eddy Njoroge, Jimnah Mbaru of NSE among others.
This blogger hopes that the latter will influence the former to formulate and push for incentives to support the growth of SME's since that is what is needed here.
