Humanity will not come of age with science, but rather by shedding religion!

Food For Thought.

** Perhaps the greatest sin of the Western churches (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) has been the particular brand of narcissism that impels so many to feel they have God all sewn up and put in their back pocket. People who think that they not only have a ticket to heaven, but anyone who disagrees with them is going straight to hell!
They believe in God, but do not believe that God is bigger than their own theology. In their arrogance they do not realized that God is not theirs to possess! -Paraphrased from M. Scott Peck

  1. its ok with the comments but i dont agree with the heading.
religion is ok, if religion here means faith in God and not piousness.

if we blame religion for the bad people, what do we blame for the good people?

  2. Religion is to blame...religion here defined as the Do and don't set for us by our religious leader.
Grace is lacking and thats where the church has failed!

  3. 'religion' has many negative connotations unfortunately. i think we ourselves are to blame for inhumane actions - to me it demonstrates our sinful human nature, as described in the bible. What are we going to do about this? we ourselves cannot change it - as much as we try and do good, we always mess up here or there. people who trust in Jesus don't need to 'think' they have a ticket to heaven, they are promised one by trusting in the death and ressurection of Jesus to atone for their mess ups and make them acceptable before God , they didn't come up with this themselves, they read it in the divine revelation from God to mankind - the Bible. When studied seriously, the historical accuracy and evidence for the divine nature of the Bible are staggering. what are the odds that if you got 40 painters who many of which didn't even know each other and lived in different times, and asked them to paint a picture, and they didn't know what the other was painting, what are the odds they would all paint parts of a picture that fit together and make one whole? That's what we see in the Bible. A good book is 'The Case For Christ' by Lee Strobel. Also it is God who says where we are going according to our choices here on earth, not mere man. Yes there are those who may be pious, but where there is a counterfeit anything, there is a true original somewhere, even if they are few :)
